Searching for olde acquaintance

When one such as this finds himself
     With no veritable response,
   Does he yet give in?

I say that it should not be so,
  For it is the pessimistic one
     Who would but forget an honorable quest.

   Yet this one is not such an one...
For he sees the fantastic nature of his goal.

His is the goal
      That would not be forgotten,
   And shall not be lost.
